Mental Health & Emotional Wellness Support

Genesis Hopeful Haven recognizes that foster youth experience high levels of trauma related to abuse, neglect, instability, and loss. As a result, mental health support is a core component of our programming.

Approximately 89% of the foster youth we serve have a diagnosed mental health condition. To address these needs, GHH provides a continuum of mental health informed services, including:

  • Genesis Hopeful Haven provides referrals to licensed external mental health providers when additional or ongoing therapeutic support is needed.
  •  GHH also creates space within our centers and housing programs for licensed therapists to provide on-site, one-on-one therapy to enrolled youth. This approach reduces barriers to care, supports consistent attendance, and allows services to be delivered in a familiar and supportive environment. All therapeutic services are provided by licensed professionals and coordinated with foster parents and caseworkers as required.
  • BSW, MSW and LCSW staff support youth through one-on-one coaching, emotional regulation, and crisis response.
  • Partnerships with Wellspring Counseling Center, which provides:
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy integrated into our after-school and housing programs
  • Equine (horse) therapy
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programming, including guided journaling facilitated by clinicians during summer camps and group sessions

While Genesis Hopeful Haven does not replace clinical mental health providers, we ensure youth are connected to appropriate licensed services and supported in a safe, trauma-informed environment that promotes healing, self-expression, and long-term stability.
