After School Program

Where Struggle Meets Success

Genesis Hopeful Haven understands that for foster youth, academic success is often hindered by the instability of frequent moves and gaps in educational support. Our After School Program is designed to bridge these gaps, providing a consistent, trauma-informed environment where students ages 10–17 can transform academic struggle into lifelong success.

Operating Monday through Thursday, our program serves as a critical support system that goes far beyond traditional tutoring. We intentionally hire aged-out foster youth as front desk receptionists and classroom aides — staff members who provide unique mentorship rooted in lived experience.

What We Provide:

  • Academic Excellence: Individualized tutoring, ACT/SAT preparation, and academic tracking to ensure students stay on the path to graduation.
  • Vocational & Life Readiness: Drivers education, career exploration activities, and essential life skills support.
  • Family Bonding: Weekend field trips designed to foster family-style connections and create positive memories outside the classroom.

Our ultimate goal is to provide the “parental” oversight that foster youth often lack — monitoring progress, celebrating milestones, and ensuring every student has the tools and confidence to pursue their dreams.
