Employment Readiness & Workforce Development

Real Work, Real Growth

Genesis Hopeful Haven prepares foster youth and young adults for long-term employment and career success through structured job readiness training, paid work experience, and vocational certification. With nearly 68% of foster youth remaining unemployed after aging out of care, we begin workforce preparation early to break this cycle.

Our program is led by a dedicated Employment Specialist who meets weekly with each participant, providing individualized coaching, accountability, and assignments to support progress. Before placement, youth complete eight required workforce readiness workshops covering resume building, mock interviews, workplace communication, professional etiquette, and job retention skills.

Program Highlights:

  • Workforce Workshops: Eight required sessions covering all aspects of job readiness before placement.
  • Employer Partnerships: Connections with local businesses creating real employment opportunities for our youth.
  • Ongoing Support: Up to three months of post-placement coaching for both the youth and employer.
  • Internship Project: Paid summer employment and career-focused internships in partnership with Miami-Dade Public Schools.
  • Vocational Certifications: Six-month FIU trade programs in HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work leading to industry-recognized certification.
