Genesis Hopeful Haven was founded with the desire to help foster children in need. There are currently over 22,000 children in the foster care system in Florida and over 600,000 in the US. These children have lost their parents through addiction, incarceration, chronic illness, or mental instability. Some have been neglected. Some physically or sexually abused.
Their placement into the system means more than just the loss of a parent. They have also lost their home, friends, and the feeling of attachment to community. Many have endured an emotional roller coaster of multiple placements with relatives or foster families. Even one’s culture and identity seem to disappear.
GHH wants to give vulnerable and at-risk children a safe place, a fresh start, and hope for the future ahead of them. We focus on the areas of greatest need within the foster care system- keeping siblings together and assisting children who are aging out of foster care.
GHH utilizes a holistic approach to meeting the needs of at-risk youth in foster care so they can grow into self-sufficient adults who are active participants in their community.
We follow the foster parent model which provides continuity of care for our residents.
How We Help
Genesis Hopeful Haven has two home locations. One where large sibling groups can live together and the other is transitional housing for 18 year old boys aging out of the foster care system. While residing in the home, children receive professional, therapeutic services, numerous recreational activities, and skills for independent living.
Our mission is to strengthen the lives of youth in foster care through supportive housing and programs that promote hope, healing, and independence.
